Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus (BVDV)
Testing to identify animals persistently infected (PI) with BVDV can be conducted as an optional add-on when ordering other genomic tests.
BVDV testing can be conducted from the same DNA sample (i.e. an additional DNA sample is not required).

Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus (BVDV), also referred to as pestivirus, is a costly disease in Australian cattle herds that can reduce herd reproductive rates through infertility or abortion, whilst reducing the immunity of animals to a range of other diseases such as bovine respiratory disease (BRD).
Testing to identify animals persistently infected (PI) with BVDV can be conducted as an optional add-on when ordering other genomic tests. BVDV testing can be conducted from the same DNA sample (i.e. an additional DNA sample is not required).
Neogen offers BVDV testing as a convenience and an add-on to genomic testing. We do not offer a stand-alone BVDV test. In the case of a positive result, we suggest getting a confirmation test through your local veterinarian, as your vet will need to be involved in the disease management strategy should it prove to be positive.
